Afghanistan is essentially the same as it was with the taliban as it is now with an American leader.

The US propaganda has really done its job on the american people about Saddam.

The Rape room stories are exagerations and much of Iraqi stability was myth and tales. In addition, much of the policing of Iraq was left to underlings that would keep shia and kurds in line. US administration accepted these practices so Saddam could stay in power.

Saddam did NOT gas the kurds. Stephen Pelletiere "A War Crime, or an Act of War?" The New York Times, January 31, 2003] The CIA and DIA both dismissed the claim that Saddam gassed the Kurds. they even went so far as to say Iran it was Iranian gas that killed the Kurds. Hence, no miiltary response from the Reagan adminstration and when the Senate PASSED the "Prevention of Genocide Act of 1988" the next day in response, Reagan vetoed this Act.

National Security advisor to Reagan, Colin Powell, urged Reagan not to have a military response to the gassing report. A Leading Republican Dick Cheney didn't push for a military response either.

The Kurds are still pissed off at the US for not intervening.

Kurdistan, northern Iraq, is where Al Qeada terrorists were hiding with Kurdish help.

You have to remember Saddam and the Kurds were not friends. The Kurds were hoping to convince Al Qeada to topple Saddam. Saddam was a US operative that stabilized the region.

Stability being defined as a secular leader that would cater to US policies versus neighboring countries.

The Kurds also dislike Presidents named Bush and the US. The US had no response to the gassing no matter if it was Iraqi or Iranian gas. The US sat back and did nothing.

The kurds were in an active war with turkey as late as 1998. They got kicked out of Iran by 1990.

If you think the Kurds are a harmless people you are sadly mistaken. They should be the enemy in Iraq and not Saddam Hussein.

How is that for some democracy. Do you think soldiers know what they are fighting for ? For civil war in the coming years ?

Sunni fighting Iranian lead shia. Shia and Sunni Iraqis fighting squater Kurds that harbor terrorists.

Do you think soldiers know this ? NAH ..
