Woberto, yeah I miss my Supra.. I nearly bought one the other day! White, twin turbo, aerotop.. guy wants a pretty reasonable price for it, but in this market I reckon I could still offer $10k less and get it.. but we don't really need another car grinning smiley Driving around in my girlfriend's lancer is a bit shit though!

'Cept that all the fast ones jerk the twin turbo set up in favor of a single bigger 'bo.

The twin turbo set-up was obviously some engineers concept of a good idea, yakno, the kinda thing that looks great on paper and in theory even shows it to be a great way to go, but dudn really work well in the real world grinning smiley

Eh? Nonsense, the TT setup worked flawlessly. Yes, it doesn't deliver the power or the kick up the ass of a single large turbo, but turbo 1 spools up just before 2000rpm and turbo 2 at 4000rpm, meaning power delivery is seamless from about 1800-5500rpm band, which is very rare in a turbo car to have a power band that wide.

Unless you're using it for racing, you'd be mad to swap out the twins for a single, the inline TT setup was awesome and spectacular whether driving around town or flying down a B road.

If you can't tell, I owned one of the TTs back in the day when I was living in the UK smiling smiley

Sequential turbo charging was used in the 959. Say no more.

I do wonder if you ever rode in a Supra with a nicely outfitted bigger than stock single turbo? It's not that I'm sayin the TT dudn work, obviously it does. However, the necessary complexity of such a system coupled with the casper milk toast performance of all factory turbo set ups (gotta keep the bean counters and insurance industry cats concerns in mind when manufacturing a factory hot rod) make the twin turbo version waaaay underpowered compared to a purpose built bad ass aftermarket set up.

There was never a Supra built that came close to the 959, so that's an apples to oranges comparison woberto winking smiley

Ok, let me put it to you this way.

The model in the picture has a nice pair of reasonable sized twin turbos.

Would you prefer her with 1 giant one?

No.

Nuff said grinning smiley
