I never did understand that nonsense, Peter Puller, and it was the beginning of my disenchantment with religion as a young boy in the late 60's at the height of the hippie era. Sadly, those "good Christians" are back at it again with other issues because their numbers are decreasing and they're afraid - so much for their faith, they have none else they wouldn't be lashing out which just drives more people away from their nonsense.
