One of these days I'll invest in a real camera and a real photoshop but this
does carry my true sentiments about this spot on my favorite stream. It takes
about an hour and a half to paddle my canoe to this spot, and beyond these
pilings of a long ago rotted bridge for a no longer discernable road is a
wilderness. No real dragons but there are alligators, wild hogs and all sorts of
wildlife. I've never seen one of them but I have seen very fresh tracks of the
very rare Florida panther, a close relative of the couger, also known as the
moutain lion. I left the area without delay on that day; I didn't want to be
lunch. There are black bears in the neighborhood, too. I love this place.

This is Prarie Creek, a tributary of the Peace River in Southwest Florida and
about twenty miles from home.
