Of course it doesn't work as well as it should when a huge number of morons
refuse to take part in those simple measures. Of course they've been and
continue to be the ones who have had the most serious and deadly outcomes from
the virus; some would consider that rough justice.

That's one way to put "Darwinism in action".

I'd say the death and infection rates of countries which had high acceptance of
these rules would counter the argument that it didn't work.

Change your News Station occasionally Quasi. There are other ways to think.
Try blaming the source and not the symptom. When you talk you sound like its
1933 all over again. Reality has shown, than nothing is going to stop you from
contracting the disease except for your own immune system. Peace to you.

I wore the mask and I got the shots. Still got the rona anyway.
Was like having a cold.. not surprising since that's what a coronavirus is after
all.
People have been dieing from coronavirus for a very long time.
quasi Report This Comment Date: April 17, 2022 01:40PM
The denying actual science and wilful ignorance among otherwise intelligent
people is stunning, disappointing, and just downright sad. This virus is more
contagious and deadly than a cold or most flus, the science shows this. It was
allowed to flourish and mutate into even more contagious varieties among people
who denied the science behind the vaccines and masks that science has shown are
effective, even denied the virus itself, until there was no real guarantee
against catching a variant though the vaccines have proven to lessen the serious
consequences of infections, and still the toddler "logic" is out there
denying the seriousness of pandemic and measures to stop it. The deniers, often
at the sacrifice of their own lives, made the number of serious illnesses and
deaths far higher than necessary in the U.S. and their nonsense still goes on.
We're so tired of your crap which is exactly what has caused this thing to go on
and on, dragged it out because of your foot dragging little "freedom"
tantrums like small children frightened of their immunizations we've all had for
decades. You think you're adulting but you're just spoiled, entitled little
brats that should go stand in the corner the way I make my grandkids when they
misbehave. Grow up.
pro_junior Report This Comment Date: April 17, 2022 04:19PM
calls other people toddlers while ranting like a toddler...that's
brilliant.
When you compare the rates of infection of vax people vs un-vax people the rate
is only slightly higher for un-vax.
That goes for hospitalizations and deaths too.
The vaccines are not stopping the spread.
The masks are not stopping the spread.
The only hospitals that are overwhelmed are the ones that reduced the numbers of
beds in their ICUs and are short staffed because staff quit over bullshit
vaccine mandates. Did they tell you that on the news?
Seriously dude, stop watching television. They're called "programs"
for a reason, and you have clearly been programmed.

Keep talking about where we are today while ignoring how we got to this point
because of the inaction of so many people the last two years, it's almost
entertaining.

Quasi, if it was as real as you claim it to be, marshal law would be installed,
the fema camps would be full and you would need a bio filter mask at all times,
like an n95 or something the military would wear during biological warfare
(NBC). Blaming other people for living their lives is sad reflection on your own
ideology. perhaps you might go protest people who ride in automobiles, the live
ending statistics are staggering. I wonder how many people you murdered by
contracting and spreading the flu, quasi? You should be held responsible for
every single person you have been in contact with for each and every time you
had the rhino virus, or sars 1 or what ever else you contracted.

pro_junior: "I wore the mask and I got the shots. Still got the rona
anyway. Was like having a cold.." Well no shit, Sherlock, quite possibly
because you primed your immune system to protect you by getting the shots and it
got on top of the infection quickly. That's kinda textbook how vaccines
work.
I have 2 relatives and 1 friend dead from Covid-19 in 12 months, all were in
great health, all unvaccinated (2 before they became available). You know how
many people I know that were in good health that are now dead from the Flu,
Cold, or Pneumonia in my lifetime? I think that would be a solid Zero. So
don't equate it with a common "cold" by saying they are the same
thing. A "cold" is caused by several different types of virus, with
Rhinoviruses being the most common , followed by a coronavirus and lastly RSV's.
All are different in structure, all cause similar symptoms. Saying a
"cold" is the same as "SARS" is like saying a Civic and a
Ferrari are the same because they are both cars.
Is it going to take down everyone? Of course not, but likewise simple diligence
by the public can certainly help protect people who would have been vulnerable.
Just because you got off easy (and maybe you would have without the vaccine as
well, can't say) doesn't mean everyone will. We're now seeing milder variants
of the virus spreading and following a similar trend to the 1918 flu pandemic.
I've said many times probably everyone will get Covid at some point because it's
now endemic, like the variations of the 1918 flu pandemic that still circulate
today. The goal is to arm your immune system as best you can, take an extra
measure or two to protect those around you, and not be a dickhead about being a
supportive part of society.
pulse Report This Comment Date: April 18, 2022 07:09AM
Yep. Vaccination isn't to prevent you getting it, it's to prevent you dying
from it, so your body can deal with the infection if/when it happens.
Personally, without going into detail, I completely believe my vaccination
status helped me when I got covid based on my history. I'm with PJ, was barely
sick.
Nice and easy to view: [
www.covid19data.com.au]
Long story short; roughly 40% of the people dying in hospital here are
unvaccinated. That means 60% are vaccinated. 40/60 (50/50 in intensive
care).
Except.... 95% of the Australian population age 16+ are fully vaccinated (2+
shots). That's just shy of 20,000,000 people. This means that 5% of the
population represents massively more of the deaths than they should.
If approx 20 million 16+ are vaccinated, that means that approx 1 million 16+
are not. Australia has had 218 deaths this week from Covid. Using 40/60 basis,
88 of them were unvaccinated, 130 of them were.
That means
0.0000065% of the vaccinated population died this week.
0.000088% of the unvaccinated population died this week, or 13.5x the death rate
in the past 7 days.

And despite the people who dismiss the number of illnesses and deaths as an
over count, if anything in the U.S. where so many people can't afford adequate
health care and so avoid seeking medical treatment, it is likely an
undercount.
