Here ya go 'berto. At the moment my drip pan is MIA since a buddy of mine
decided to rest his foot on it and wiped it out the other day. Shoulda put a
bar underneath to support it on the other edge too I guess.
I've been thinkin about makin a revision to it and addin a bigger tool tray with
a paper towel holder built in and then a separate shelf area for settin parts on
too as these would be helpful additions
Another home boy engineered deal I made is an engine tilter that actually works
and does so easily. Instead of suspending the bar and using the allthread as a
part of the stressed structure (which tends to bow the allthread and make it
hard to adjust the engine tilt angle), the allthread is captured in bearings on
both ends and the engine hanger bracket rolls up and back on the tilter bar
frame on bearings under and above the bar so the allthread bears no part of the
load.
I made this tilter bar about 8" longer than any I've seen using 2 X 3 X
1/8" wall tubing with a piece of 1/2 X 2-1/2" flat bar stock welded
end to end inside the tubing. I figure it could problee easily support close to
a ton which is way more than it'll ever see. With this puppy I can tilt an
engine and tranny at about a 50 degree angle which makes it ideal for gettin in
some more "challenging" combinations since I always prefer to drop the
engine and tranny in at the same time.
Before I built this one I bought 1 and borrowed another one time, both of which
were so wimpy they were pitiful. When I made mine I made sure I'd never need
another one

You could add a titanium hydraulic ram to make it height adjustable, probably
only cost you $15k.
Or salvage something from a barbers chair.

where's the seat?

Bah ... I just need to get it like I want it & then figure out how to
market the design, which I'll problee never get around to
I've had several people ask me to build 'em one and the discussion always seems
to hit the wall when we get to cost. I can build 'em pretty easily but the
materials have gone through the roof over the last few years. They look at it
& think they could have one for like $50-60 bucks when the materials alone
costs more than that

Good job. I never got into building stuff like that but can appreciate it a
lot. I got into electronics and musical instruments instead.

Thanks for the compliment Blah. Havin spent 30+yrs now in the mechanical
trades this kinda stuff is old hat. Welding is one of the best things I think I
ever learned though and is certainly beneficial if you wanna build stuff outta
metal, which is my specialty.
Kinda appropriate that with a last name of Steele it turned out I loved workin
with the stuff
