The X-48B is a different UAV than the Phantom Ray (formerly X-45C).
Should add they both are from Boeing Phantom Works.

If it's a UAV why does it have windows?

I wondered that myself. They didn't have a whole lot of detailed info on the
Boeing site.

It has windows because it's not a UAV so much as a radio controlled test
aircraft for the blended wing body design.
It was intended to be used full scale as an airliner or transport/mid air
refueling aircraft.

The link you cite calls it a UAV. The windows are probably there to get an idea
how they might affect aerodynamics during testing. My understanding is that all
UAVs are radio controlled so what's the diff?

I meant it's not a UAV like the predator drone or ever meant to be used as is
for military operations.
It's just a small scale test model.

Gotchya. I understand. I guess when you say UAV these days people think of a
military drone type thing.
