my dad was buried 12 feet under in 1952 or '53
in the army in Japan with 2
others ( all survived)

What I don't understand is why were they trying to climb Mt. Hood in the winter
time? Wouldn't it be a lot safer to climb it in July instead of December?
Even though they were experienced mountian climbers and very well prepared I
feel their timing was way off and they set themselves up for something like this
to happen.
It's still a horrible tragedy all the same and my prayers go out to their
families.
