The teacher should have been the one called up for ignorance in this case.
Teaching blind acceptance of stated matter as factual should be considered as
criminal in that profession.
Were this note to have been sent to me regarding any of my children I'd have
requested a consultation with this instructor and ripped her a new asshole for
such a rediculous attitude relevant to her profession. When one loses the
ability to question the instruction given and demanded it be received as
absolute truth the instructor and the student both lose, and yes that concept IS
frightening !

Resistance is futile, you will be misinformed!

This Kind of teaching method has been in place from even when I was a kid, but
at that point they were still beating on us and singling us out like the fool in
the class. I absolutely hated being in a public school system. I resent it as an
adult and have found that a majority of my peers are complete unconscious as I
am still ostracized from the mainstream society for my "Thought
Criminal" mentality.
Additionally this breeds distrust of people in elevated positions and allows for
unqualified persons or persons with an dark agenda to fill those positions, mean
time straying away from the important of living altogether.

Thankfully at least in my household growing up I was always guaranteed the
right to question anything and anyone. Debate (not to be confused with pure
argumentativeness) was an art form crafted in our family from early on.
The freedom I had at home in questioning things did lead to certain conflicts
once I started to school, but again thankfully my parents always backed up my
right to do so when these arose.
Only when we question things do we truly learn anything. Blind acceptance of
every stated idea only leads to a "blindered" outlook on the world in
general and certainly detracts from ones abilty to reason and think as an
individual.
I've made a life of steadfastedly defying the status quo and, even with the
problems that has caused at times, will continue to do so since to do otherwise
would only subjugate my own individuality, which I absolutely refuse to allow !

Man I'd be so proud of getting detention because of that

i had this as well growing up
in college now most of the instructors are not like this, but still a few are...
i just drop those classes and there are ways to rate your teachers now on the
internet too (for college), they quickly disappear afterwards and are replaced
by better teachers
the one i've been studying networking with linux/unix for the last year, todd
meadors, is one who when he is wrong or if there is a better method to
accomplishing something than what he suggested actually encourages the students
to point it out to him and the class that he is wrong or misinformed
but when i was in grade school and even in highschool most of my instructors
were not worth shit(obviously i can't spell lol - or am very good with math) i
always found myself in the principle's office for speaking up... eventually i
just quit giving a flying fuck - i wound up gettting alot more from the
streets
desperately need a new sys and equal education should be available to all the
people and anyone teaching false information and then punishing those who
challenge them should be considered criminal and be severely punished and lose
their right to teach
mistakes will be made and give me a few more shots and i might claim that a
kilometer is a larger distance than one mile, but you should always accept being
corrected when you are wrong... my teacher now has fucked up on numerous
occasions and my classmates and i have caught him on it and providing a
reference he was able to say "oops, i fucked up there... we learn new stuff
everyday" that is the only type of person that should be allowed to teach
and especially to children
this type of teacher is only accepted under this capitalist system... where they
want to teach you to blindly obey even when you know that they are incorrect...
to not ask questions, just accept the horse manure and call it ice cream and eat
it up with a fucking spoon

The teacher needs a detention. She failed to accept the student's
"lesson" that she was in fact lying to her class.
Since the student was merely stating a scientific fact, then it was merely her
interpretation that the comment was disrespectful.
In my book, she should have thanked the student for correcting her
ignorance.
Allowing a person to spout off lies and misinformation without questioning or
correcting them is dangerous. But don't take my word for it. Just look at
George W. Bush.

Yes, that is the American way or should I say the World way, schools are there
to brainwash the kids to be acceptable at all times, just look at who sits on
the Boards today, a bunch of flimsy socially correct people that care more about
their way than learning.
Catholic school was the same way, that is probably one of the reasons I don't
believe in a God, I seen how the system worked from the beginning, they didn't
care if you were right or wrong they just cared if your family gave them their
money and that you sucked up and believed everything they told you, the classic
is a friend of mine standing in front of the classroom (5th Grade) with the
Principal (Nun) and getting smacked about 3 times in the face (not little ones
either) for farting in church a couple of minutes ago, the joke is that he
wasn't even the one that did it, once they make up their mind that you're the
one, that's it you're done.
Oh yeah and what ever happened to "no kids left behind", just a bunch
of fluffy bullshit talk. Just like now.

Ah!....but, if we don't learn at school to accept, without question, what we
are told, how, in later life, are we to accept those greater "truths",
like "the world is warming up and it's
all our fault" and
"increasing taxes on travel/fuel will miraculously cause it to cool down
again"?

Did I miss something, or is there some reason why you have all decided that the
teacher is a female?
