There are two really strange things about the Hurricane. The first is that it
has two Hemi V-8 engines. Depending on power needs at any given time, the
off-roader can run on 4, 8, 12 or all 16 cylinders.
It can also, literally, turn on a dime. Front and back wheels can angle inward
allowing the Hurricane to rotate in one spot. DaimlerChrysler, Jeep's parent
company, says its patented technology could see some military applications.
For those of us without Pentagon budgets, future Jeep production vehicles might
benefit from some less radical applications of Hurricane's 4-wheel steering
technology, suggested Joseph Barker with auto market analysts CSM Worldwide.

rear wheel steering, the skyline had "sympathetic steering" back in
the 90's and i know that wasn't the first car to have it. and there are a number
of cars that shut down cylinders when not needed, there's a merc and a couple of
jap cars for sure.
