$100 minus 70% equals $30 the take the extra 30% off the price will be $10

Depends how you read it. 70 + an extra 30 = 100%

I would think of it as $100 minus 70% equals $30
$30 minus 30% equals $21...plus tax...

Depends if the little illegible text says something like "off already
reduced price" or not.

My math was wrong the price should be $9.00.
What matter is how the store told their cashiers to read it, customers are never
right any longer.

$9 is $30 minus 70%...yer maths are still wrong...
I agree with pulse, it depends on what the fine print says...it may say
something like 70% off shoes and 30% off socks ...

Been so long since I had to do that in my head, calculators made me lazy.
$21.00 should be right.
Maybe the signs meant 70% off the left shoe and 30% off the right one.
