There does seem to be a divide with regards car tastes in America and Europe (including the UK this time). This car and others like it seem to get Americans really excited but do nothing for us. Interesting smiling

Problee just a point of perspective thing Tiw. Since I was a teenager in '69 these cars were what was "the shit" on the streets in that time. There were tons of big block gas guzzlers cruisin the streets in those days at a whopping 8 or so mpg. 'Course gas was only like 30 cents a gallon at the time too.

At that point in time it was fairly rare to see a european car other than a VW and the invasion of Japanese cars to America had yet to have occured. That meant cars like these Fossil posted were the Kings of the street back then.

In those days most Cop cars were commonly factory hot rods with few amenities. In the suburb I went to school in the Police had Chrysler 426 hemi powered Plymouth Furys. I saw 2 of 'em chase down a big block powered 'Cuda one night.

Ah yeah .... memories :>winking

'70 cuda 426 ragtop was my entry into mustle car fame. that car was a rag when i bought it. it went right to a friend (genius to this day)and 2 months later it was restored completely. 2 months later it was beasted out! and 3 months after that my cousin bought her from me. he eventually restored to original and he just recently sold it for 210,000.

i dropped my new stang off at that same friends yesterday and he slapped a supercharger in. now my 6 is pumping close to 300 h.p.! wow! he says another $1500 or so and i can get 400!

$210k Holy shit man, I'd sell it too !!!

I shudder to think what that 69 340 Dart might be worth today, since there were only 50 of them built that year. Instead of rebuilding it, I sold it to a Chrysler junkyard for $100 in '79. DOH !!!

Bet you're havin some fun with the 'Stang, good deal !

Get this:

I wrapped an original, orange '69 dual quad Hemi GTX around a cedar tree on Kent Island, Maryland, USA in December, 1979, drunk as a fucking skunk, heading home from a lascivious encounter with my girlfriend Sandy. Slid her on ice on Dominion Road, hit the tree at maybe 80 on the passenger side, broke the car in half, and I escaped unscathed. Bought the Plymouth for 600 bucks cash in Easton maybe six months earlier. Ran her on tags borrowed from my 440 Road Runner, stupid cops never noticed, and didn't care if I was drunk, I guess 'cause they were drunk too or maybe stoned on pot. Made some money from State Farm too, the dumb bastards. Ah, the good old days. Anyway, I had her remains dragged back home via Big Daddy's 301 Texaco and Dad said, "Wrecked yourself another one, huh?"

Oh well, that's the breaks. Though I was young and dumb then, I parted her out and saved the choice pieces for decades. Knew what to save too. Sold the Hemi in '92 for $6000, when I was 44, and it had locked up in the barn. Sold the A-833 Hemi four speed in 2002 for $3000, and the Dana 60 the same year for $2500.

The best part is that I sold the title, serial number, fender tag, cowl body serial, numbered trunk girder above the differential, and stock frame strengtheners, along with the production broadcasts, for $20,000 to an unnamed collector in 2008. I threw in the HD rear springs and original Hurst shifter, console and rotted bucket seats for free, along with the bent hood marked on each side with inserts labeled "HEMI".

I've seen her in her reincarnated glory at Carlisle via Satellite coupe - and she lives again!
