My '67 Hysters seat was in pretty bad shape and I had a totaled Talon just sittin around, so I decided to put the drivers seat to good use rock

What I'd like to do next quasi is get the brakes workin on this thing again eye

The master cylinder is completely shot on it and problee the wheel cylinders too. Gettin parts for a lift of this "vintage" isn't an easy task though and unlike car parts, damned expensive when you do too.

Last week the starter went out & I spent a whole day workin all the magic I knew tryin to repair it to no avail & finally had to plop down $150 for a rebuilt one. So far the only place I've found a brake master cylinder wanted $350 for one and didn't even have the wheel cylinders anymore which were another $100 per wheel if they'd have had 'em eye

I'll problee just yank the master and wheel cylinders one day, disassemble 'em and see about rebuildin myself. There's a brake rebuilder parts company in Dallas I could problee just buy some new rubber cups for these parts for so long as they're not pitted so badly that they can still be honed smooth and rebuilt. I'd hafta buy a box of 50-100 cups to get the 2 different sizes I'd likely need to rebuild 'em but at $5 or $6 a box for the cups that total of $10 - $12 is waaaaay cheapern $550 to buy new cylinders. And, essentially bein a cheap bastard, that sounds a lot more reasonable smiling bouncing smiley

Luckily since I'm the only operator and the bulk of what I do is shuffle machinery around inside my building at a blazing 1/8 - 1/4 mph I can get away with usin the auto tranny it has which is controlled by the old treddle pedal design with reverse on the right and forward on the left side of the gas pedal as a makeshift brake, though this does leave a lot to be desired all in all. So far I haven't punched any holes in the walls with the ol beast .... yet.

If this lift were bein used in a production environment the comfy new seat would be a hindrance since the high back seat/head rest makes it difficult in seein behind me but as most of what I do with it requires goin forward it's not much of an issue. This time of year the velour seat is certainly an improvement over the faux leather vinyl the original seat had as it's not nearly as hot and .... I have adjustable lumbar and seat edge height support now as a definite bonus too rock

Like my fancy corrugated/shrink wrap rain gear eh PJ? Though this was thrown on in haste one day years ago when I was loadin a machine in the rain that lil piece of corrugated really works great as a sun shield more than anything else this time of year. I've been shufflin machinery and parts in and out of the building as I've been rearrangin the shop layout lately and our string of 2-3 weeks now of 100+ degree weather replete with the blazing sunlight makes that lil piece of corrugated above my head worth its weight in gold grinning smiley

Somethin else I have considered is throwin on a much nicer steering wheel, just happen to have one layin around. This one is functional but not nearly as cool or comfy as the spare I have sittin on a shelf.

This beast is definitely old school compared to the new ones, no hour meter, alt meter, oil pressure or temp gauge, none of 'em worked so I removed 'em years ago. But, with a triple beam mast that reaches all the way to 16' up and side shift coupled with a set of 72" forks and 8000lb lift capabilties it's a hoss and does everything it needs to do just fine winking

I drove a forklift with a rainroof/sunshade like that here in Florida for many years. They do make a nice addition in this climate.

Only thing I ever got in trouble for while driving forklift was doing circles as fast I could. smiling bouncing smiley
