The B-29 was awesome, but ultimately larger intercontinental bombers like the huge Convair B-36 "Peacemaker" made the difference in the cold war that followed when relations between the US and Soviet allies chilled after WW2. It was not until much later that the USSR developed a true intercontinental bomber with the same capabilities, relying instead on copies of the B-29 from ones they stole from us and back-engineered. Peace through strength and superior firepower.
