DC: well, IMHO, as long as the replies insult people, then the reaction will be to polarize opinion. Very oppositionalist and confrontatory (cf. /Firesign/ /theatre/ ) your agit-prop. Respecting people first, regardless of their opinion, seems to generate more goodwill, in my experience. Also, making a distinction between arguing opinion, vs. arguing against a person helps too.
Unless of course your goal IS to polarize people.. then, of course, carry on.
