They were hardly disrespecting your flag - they were flying it with their own. They should have been warned that it was illegal, and have the reason explained to them. Not have some lunatic storm across with a hunting knife and cut down their flags! Taking the law into your own hands (in those sort of situations) is just plain ridiculous. And applauding that sort of behaviour is even more ridiculous.
