Well fossil, I can't speak for your countrys flag (personally though I think the USA flag is too iconic in the world to change it), but my countrys flag still has a union jack in the corner even though we have been independent from the british for some time (despite the fact the queen is officially our head of state). As is typical of most "western" countries there are so many other cultures here now. Also, the culture of the native people here is strong and they were never defeated by the invading English, signing a treaty with them instead. I would like to see my countrys flag changed to reflect less of the British influence and more of the native people's culture. I'll proudly stand behind any flag that represents my country though, cos afterall, it's just a bit of cloth, it's what it represents that is important.
