I love looking at old buildings and ruins. We don't have anything like this. Just over 100 years ago, the Army Corps of Engineers knocked the top off a hill with a bulldozer and put up tents, prior to which there was no town here at all. Then, we had the 1964 earthquake, which destroyed almost everything. Most of what survived has since been knocked down to build hotels. It's depressing. A couple of years ago, I got to go to Scotland, so I went to every church and castle I could get into. They have monuments that predate the United States, to people and events that predate the discovery of America. For someone like me, that's cool as shit.
