2007Jan16 when I lived up the road from pulse we had a week of 42C (108F) combined with some rather large bushfires that took out the main power to Melbourne. I couldn't sleep so I grabbed a six pack and walked to the beach. I waded out to waist deep and cracked a cold one. When I turned around to look back at the shore I noticed there were a thousand people doing pretty much the same thing but I didn't see them as there were no lights.
