We generally don't use umbrellas in Oregon. It is a waste of time when the rain comes down so hard that it goes upwards from the ground. Remember that scene in Forrest Gump when he was in Nam and the rain was coming upwards? That's a regular rainy day in Oregon. It is also dangerous when the wind gets high. Umbrellas do not last long here.
