I didn't notice hiss but the volume is real low. Boosting it, adding a bit of compression and filtering out some of the hiss can be done with software but it would be some work. None of the free or trial video editors I've looked at have the capability of processing the audio track that much and probably would have to rip the audio track from the video and use an audio editor to process it, then get it back into the video file (replacing the original audio track of course). All of that is possible but like I said, it would be some work.
I certainly would not want to be stranded in that place by high water (or anything else) and most certainly not for hours. I think I've had more than my share of scary-ass experiences already. I lay low these days
