I don't think it's a big deal nowadays..
but used to be if a company pissed you off you could overpay your last bill and they would have to refund the over-payment...then if you didn't cash the check it would fuck with their accounting dept...
they sent me a few letters asking me to cash this check and even sent out a replacement check...
