Melbourne underwent one of the strictest lockdowns in the world and masks were made mandatory
At the time those rules came down, my city had the same daily cases as the UK and now Melbourne hasn't had a new locally transmitted case in 2 months (we've just started allowing international travellers into hotel quarantine again; there's been cases there this week).
The UK has put on a million cases since July and has lost 20,000 more people due to inaction; compared to 20,000 cases and eradication here with mask and lockdown laws.

... but I won't bother, there's just no point.

The thing is, yes we had a massive lockdown. Yes, masks were mandatory. Yes, "it infringes on our rights" and all that shit. Yes, a few pissant bitches complained (though mostly ones who were actually impacted by restrictions so you can understand it, not just whinging about their rights). However, now all those lockdowns are gone. Masks aren't mandatory. Pubs are open, restaurants are open, bars are open, nightclubs are open, we've got 30,000 people a day at our sporting events. And zero cases.

But apparently these things don't work, it's all about control.
