When I got my first job in 1977 the minimum wage then was equivalent to a little over $10 in today's economy. While housing, transportation, and all other basic living expenses have grown wages have not kept up, the federal minimum wage now being $7.25 while tipped employees minimum is $2.13. Florida has been better than federal for some time with minimum wage being $8.65 which just increased to $10 and set to increase by $1 each year until 2026. Minimum for tipped employees here is now $6.98.
