I'm kind of curious.
How do we KNOW that it was man's fault? Who makes the call? Is there a real method, or does some Gaian religious freak make the call?
How many species are known to have been selected out of continuance in total throughout history?
Sounds like something fossil_digger might know.

I might add that however wonderful any of these species might have been, it doesn't seem that any of these are critical to the planet's survival. Not that I'm in favor of idiots arbitrarily fucking up the planet.
