Ya gotta keep an eye on your shit. I still have one copy on vinyl but I doubt
it's is great condition.
Mrkim Report This Comment Date: September 04, 2012 10:33AM
Yep, but with 75 people strung all over the house that night it was tough!
Who ever it was certainly knew rare LPs and made off with several that night.
MIA afterwards was also an original boxed set with all the goodies still intact
of George Harrisons "All Things Must Pass", Cheech and Chongs
"Big Bamboo", which still even had the HUGE Bamboo rollin paper in it,
Rod Stewart/Faces "A Nod is as Good as a Wink to a Blind Horse" and
the rarest of any LP I ever owned, Harry Nillsons' "The Point".
I had ordered the LP of The Point after watchin the movie and have never seen
another copy of it, hell, I've only ever known even one other person that HAD
ever seen another copy of it (headexplode)
Friggin thieves

BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: September 04, 2012 12:50PM
That sucks. I actually had a copy of The Point once too.

I'm not sure Kim ever had any "ass party's" let alone a
"wild" one...
pro_junior Report This Comment Date: September 04, 2012 09:51PM
ass parties stink
BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: September 04, 2012 09:59PM
I've never been any where near Kim's house that I know of but it doesn't come
as a surprise that he partied with asses, wild or otherwise. I guess it'd be
easy to get shitfaced at an ass party.

out his ass party and made it wild instead. Bitchez.
On topic, wtf do you mean young punks? A tape? This is neither vinyl nor 8-track
both of which this album would've been released on before your fancy ass tape,
child of the 80s.
Not that I can speak

I tell my wife I'm a child of the 70s, she
disagrees, says November 79 doesn't count.
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: September 05, 2012 04:36AM
Oh so young. I was a teen by then.

Mrkim Report This Comment Date: September 05, 2012 12:14PM
Bah, cassettes hit the scene in the early 70s and were the 1st tape medium to
actually give the longstanding audiophile standard (at that time) reel-to-reel
tape decks a run for their $$.
Up to that time the only way to record audio onto tape for the home user had
been w/expensive reel to reel equipment. Cassettes pretty quickly brought about
the demise of those decks as they were much more affordable for the average Joe
and the tapes could actually be used in portable players and car stereos. Kinda
hard to get a reel to reel deck in a car
Pulse skimmed right over another tape medium that also came along in that era
which was the 4 track deck/tapes. Not hard to imagine though since they came on
the scene and disappeared in about as long as it takes for a bong hit to
dissipate. 8 track tapes, with twice the length and the same quality of the 4
tracks killed 'em off really quickly

BlahX3 Report This Comment Date: September 05, 2012 01:41PM
Philips invented the compact cassette in 1962. Serious consideration of the
medium for quality audio use was not realized until late 70's when Dolby and
CRO2 tapes came along.
BTW, there were 8 track cartridge recorders too. They weren't as widespread as
R2R or cassette but they were available.
Recently I was given an old stereo combo that includes receiver, turntable,
cassette recorder and an 8 track recorder. It's a real cheapo brand and I
haven't tested it yet but it's kinda cool just to have.
Oh and you aren't fooling anyone. You already let the ass out of the bag.

i had an 8 track bolted to the underneath the dash (with a U bracket) of my
first car (1968 baby blue VW fastback) and 4 8 track tapes.

pro_junior Report This Comment Date: September 05, 2012 04:27PM
circa 1986 I lived in a small town and there weren't any stereo stores around
for several miles, so I ordered an MCS series stereo from the JCPenney catalog.
...It had a receiver, amplifier, turntable, dual cassette decks and a graphic
equalizer. For a mere $129 extra I could have added a CD player, which was quite
a bargain as they were going for about $400 at the time...I said nahhh those CDs
won't catch on, they will get scratched and won't work, people will like
cassette tapes better and CDs will fade away...oops.

I saw Roger Waters do Dark Side live a couple of years ago, was really good. He
came back and did The Wall last year, which I personally rate higher than Dark
Side, but his rendition of it wasn't as good.
I've got a DVD-A version of them both somewhere. It's amazing how many times a
band can re-release the same music and make a bit more coin off it each time

One thing none of them need is more
coin....
Edit: they might be SACD actually instead of DVD-A. Would have to dig and I'm
too lazy.

Better than the studio I think.

Yeah I've got the DVD set of Pulse too, which incidentally has nothing to do
with my name
And own most of the CDs ..
I do like PF, but definitely The Wall is my favorite.
Mrkim Report This Comment Date: September 25, 2012 10:09AM
The Wall's awesome but my go-to Pink Floyd is "Wish You Were
Here".
Many moons ago when I got my 1st CD player (thanks again Mom!), the 1st 2 CDs I
snagged were "Wish You Were Here" and Dire Straits "Dire
Straits". Problee drove my neighbors nutz playin 'em ... 'til my next pay
day

It's a toss up between "Wish You Were Here" and "The Wall"
for me but I know "The Wall" almost word for word all these years
later, I listened to it so much back in the day.

I was never really a big fan of Stratocaster guitars until I heard Mark
Knopfler play one on that album.
