Another mrkim 1/2 a world away, and another sports car guy too, what are the
odds?
That's a cool lookin ride, one I don't think we get here either. Looks kinda
like a Miata, just less girliyish

Hehe yeah I was walking home (Australian F1 Grand Prix weekend, skived off work
and went this afternoon to practice sessions) and just near the beach was this
one.
I believe the MX5 is the Miata, that's a new model though

Small mans' car.

Mrkim Report This Comment Date: March 25, 2017 03:18AM
Oh, I'm sooo envious pulse. Practice sessions are always badass to hang out
for! Hope you enjoy the weekend buddy
Walk like an Egyptian? All night long while givin Suzanna Hoffs a moustache ride
Yeah, Miatas have come a long way from the mousy lookin ride they started out as
but I haddn seen a convertible hard top like that one here. I can barely fit in
the Eclipse, 'nother inch or so taller and I'd be combin out the headliner w/my
flat top. 'Sides, still think the Eclipse looks cooler/musclier anyway
BTW, ordered the Davies Craig 115EWP on saturdee and received it on wensdee,
awesome shippin by those cats. That's one cool as shit piece too. Think my parts
pile grew another 6" taller this week with all the stuff that came in.
Just started workin with Kevin @ Ishihara-Johnson Crank Scrapers to make a
custom crank scraper, Woohoooo!

Thanks Kim, looking forward to tomorrow (not at qualifying today).
One of our suppliers at work is owned by NTT in Japan, who are a McLaren Honda
main sponsor; they got me a ticket for Sunday in McLaren's private suite at the
track, fully catered, pit/garage access etc
So that should be fun.

Color me GREEN!!!
That's a dream ticket dude and I'm sure you'll have a blast. Get lotsa pics

pulse Report This Comment Date: March 25, 2017 07:37AM
Will do;
Just a shame that again McLaren look to be nowhere near the pace required so
dare say it'll be a bit downbeat around the garage, but fuck it it's something
I'll never get to do again so I'll take it

sponsor passes?
droooooooool!
i had pit passes for a Dallas Grand Prix back in the late '80s, and it was
really cool....but sponsor pass?
droooooooool again.
i've also been to the Indy 500 twice. if you've never done it.....put it on your
list, you will never forget it.

One year I worked the Dallas Grand Prix as a volunteer when it was at Addison
airport just outside Dallas. The pits were located in the hangar section of the
airport and I spent 2 days workin the pit entry gate havin to turn away untold
numbers of very angry people who had airplanes hangared there and didn see why
they had to buy a pit pass to check on their planes.
On the mornin of the finals I strolled through the gate w/my Staff t-shirt on,
slipped into a bathroom and swapped it for a shirt in my fanny pack and just
wandered around the track all day w/ my Staff Event hat on
The last year they held the Grand Prix there I was workin for an oil company and
we were being courted by a fuel additive company who was sponsoring 2 cars. They
called me up and asked if I wanted tickets and come to find out they were in a
vendor only grandstand that were the best seats at the track! Also included off
track private parking at a secured lot, breakfast and lunch at the AER (the cars
other major sponsor) shop just 1 block away from the track and all kindsa give
aways that were held at the shop all day. I had a BLAST

Nothing quite prepared me for the awesomeness that day at the F1 was. I should
upload a few more pics.
Basically our entertainment area was directly above the McLaren garage on pit
lane. Moet & Chandon are also McLaren sponsors, so the drinks were.. let's
say free flowing. I haven't been that smashed for a very long time
Best view I've ever had, got some great video of them doing the pit stops
literally 3 metres below me. Met Fernando Alonso, won an autographed , mounted
pic of both of this year's drivers etc (shame it wasn't last year, as I liked
their previous driver who retired).
Apparently to get that level of access in a team's own suite is a $10,000+
ticket (could've bought eg Fosters or Qantas or something for cheaper and got
similar view etc, but they're not an F1 team so don't have the live engineers
info etc during the race).
Sadly with how shit Honda have been the past few years it looks like McLaren
will likely ditch them this year and go back to Mercedes engines. If they do,
NTT Japan will probably stop sponsoring them, and I'll lose my chance at a
ticket for next year's event, but at least I got to do it

A bit off topic but I came across a cool biopic on Primewire about Bruce
McLaren simply called McLaren. Definitely worth a watch
