PJ, Sounds like helluva tricky passage to navigate in a best case scenario.
Reading all the precautions got me wondering, so I'll ask. With the advent of so
many trucks now using automatic transmissions how does that work when trying to
use the tranny as a brake?
I know cars basically freewheel with an auto when letting off the gas, hell, the
fuel injectors even shut down when coasting, so I wonder what happens in a big
truck with an auto?

I thought trannies were illegal there now?

If ya wanna use trannies as a brake, that's still legal, but just until their
lawyers show up.
Compensation's kinda a moot point though when all we're talkin about is a slick
spot in the road

I've run up and down that hill more times than I can remember.. 99.9% of those
trips were in a truck with a manual transmission.
The few times that I've run it with an automatic transmission were with fairly
light loads.. just flipped the Jake brakes on High, set the cruise control for
about 45mph and let her roll...
This
vidya is what the majority of my trips looked like, long nose Peterbilt,
