"There's an elephant in the room that threatens to ruin it all though, and
it sits atop the charming frontman's head for the entire show. Why he persists
with wearing what appears to be a Native American war bonnet beggars' belief,
especially given he has swapped it out for different attire in recent years.
He pays respect to the traditional custodians of the land we're partying on
before 'When You Gonna Learn', which doesn't give him a free pass but does show
a respect for Indigenous people and culture. A respect that he's reflected
through his lyrics over the years.
I'm very much not qualified to speak on the offence this might cause, we're
better off hearing from Native American voices. If he has some kind of
dispensation, that context is lost in an event like tonight's. And there are
just so many other hats he could've worn.
If you can get past what Jay Kay wears on his head, then you'll find no gripes
in Jamiroquai's return to Australia tonight. They are a band who strive to be
perfect and get there with thrilling results." - some faggot from ANC news.

I have yet to figure out the line between cultural appropriation and cultural
appreciation. That writer can't either. Difference is that I do not care and he
does.
Seems two people can do the same thing and get different results, and I don't
just mean because one might actually be a member of that culture... the above
text says exactly that, that the reviewer sits on the fence, speaking both sides
of the deal. The headdress obviously matters to that guy and yet he tosses a
word or two out saying it's okay nonetheless with him. Is it?
I hope the rest of the article actually spoke about the show itself, which is
why anyone would be reading the article.
