Kids used to have flick combs and swap out the comb with a swiss army knife blade.

Most of them cut themselves.

I never heard that one. We used to take apart firecrackers and make our own. Lesson in physics: long, thin firecrackers have greater reach than short fat ones with the same amount of powder - that's why they make the long thin ones!

In my defence I was under the age of ten.
