Just wait 'till you need Dell's tech support...
"Jennifer" in Bombay will be happy to read off a canned script for you.

Actually, most of Dell's tech support is based in India. Bombay would be an improvement.

MousAnony, isn't Bombay in India?
I was going to buy a complete Dell system last year until they kept baiting and switching me around, changing the system price and then telling me I had to wait 30 to 45 days to get a computer with the specs I requested. When I called for a "person in charge", I got someone in India. Polite, but not helpful. I bought an HP at BestBuy instead.

Bombay, Bangalore, and Delhi mainly.

meanwhile, please tell me that's not a real Dell. couldn't they even try / pretend they're not ripping off on Apple's designs?

Well I have a dell and I have only called support once.It did suck but the computer is sweet though no complaints. My buddy bought an HP and loves it.They got tired of building them just to have the hard drives fry.

I had the model before this, the Inspiron 600m. Bought it direct from the US while I was living in the UK so I wouldn't end up with an English keyboard.

Was an awesome little laptop. Had an ATI Radeon in it, so it was also a solid little gaming system. Worked brilliantly until one of my trips back to Australia I stood on it. Smashed the screen. Replaced it with a Toshiba Portege R100, one of the coolest laptops I've still ever seen. Smaller & thinner than a current macbook air but had an inbuild ethernet port and modem.

Those were the days. I still have that laptop, I found it recently.. the battery had swelled ridiculously so I've chucked that out. I want to figure out a way to mount the 1.8" HD and see if there's any interesting data on it.

My one and only DELL from HELL was a Latitude (with the Pentium M).
Stable with Windoze and virtual machines.
An added bonus was that it could heat a 2 bedroom unit.
So you know, it was known as a laptop but if you put it on your lap you risked 2nd degree burns.

My Inspiron looked almost identical. And yeah I could play some Need for Speed Underground or something on it, burn the shit out of myself.

I think some of the first plus613 code was written on that Inspiron.
