My 8" Colt Python has a smiley face engraved on the grips with the caption
"Have a nice day"

Funny thing is, I bought it like that
from a friend's dad who was a state trooper.

Hah, PW. Or is that Pistol whipped?

The Colt Python
was never chambered in the .44 Mag. It has always been a .357, and universally
acknowleged as one of the finest wheel guns ever made. It's not the caliber,
it's the shooter.

It's not the barrel length either, it's the shooter. I qualified for the police
department with a 2in .357.

That's a tired argument, Woberto. We as Americans will never relinquish our
guns.
There are a few other countries I can name that have NO restrictions on firearms
ownership, yet there is no gun violence at all.
Blame it on a sick society where kids have lost direction and support, and
parents who've given up on 'em.

Actually if it wasn't for the USA then Australians would be speaking Japanese,
so it appears you are the ignorant fucking yank that the rest of the world has
come to loathe.
And if you knew anything about the community here you would know that I was born
in Japan.
And if you think the gun murder rate in America is acceptable then you are
failing the humanity test.
Please don't post on this website anymore, you're worse than madmex.

people, how are the so called good people gonna protect themselves from the other
ten percent?

woberto Report This Comment Date: December 17, 2007 09:09PM
If I lived in the USA I would want to have a gun in my home.
But not an AK-47 (no matter how cool it would be) or a 20mm cannon!
American gun owners can still obviously be responsible but as usual the minority
ruin it for the rest of us.
There are plenty of guns in Australia but it is highly regulated. In the past
the easiest way to get a gun was to break into someone's home and steal one
(when they aren't home!). Now this is almost eliminated.
The last time I went shooting was just after our gun-laws toughened up, single
shot rifles only (bolt action) and not even semi-auto allowed. It did not ruin
the experience or prevent us from eating that night.
For the record, the American gun massacre is insignificant next to the power of
the Australian gun massacre. You don't know the POWER of the Australian gun
massacre. Google Port Arthur Australia.

why you think i do. but also i don't care. why don't you quit your bitching and

In all fairness, there is bound to be disagreement on a volatile issue such as
this one, and Woberto has a right to voice his opinion. But name calling and
insults simply go across the line and accomplish nothing.
There are enough mentally ill people, crooks, murderers and thugs out there who
have easy access to guns that laws already on the books should prevent them from
owning.
The key here is enforcement of these laws, and fixing the problems with our
judicial system so that these people get locked up and stay locked up.
Having been around firearms all of my life, I'm comfortable around them and have
made enthusiasts out of people who've never held one in their hands.
It's a great way to have a little fun on a weekend afternoon, shooting clays or
plinking soup cans off of fence posts.
With more than 40 different guns in my collection, not one of them has ever
picked itself up and shot anyone. And thankfully, I've never had to fire one in
anger either.

Trust the military dude to get all sensible on us.
Anyhoo, responsible gun owners should find a way to actively promote responsible
gun ownership. If you want it, you can have it, subject to rules and
regulations. Just like (almost) anything in a free country.
Here are some stat's to make us all feel happy.
The two leading mechanisms of injury deaths among adolescents in the USA are
motor vehicle crashes and firearms.
In 2003, motor vehicle traffic caused the deaths of
5,169 adolescents
between 15-19 years of age. The vast majority of those killed were in motor
vehicle accidents either as a passenger or driver. Deaths of pedestrians,
motorcyclists, and others accounted for the remainder of motor vehicle mortality
among adolescents. The total road toll for the USA was 44,443 dead.
In 2003, firearms caused the deaths of
2,469 adolescents aged between
15-19. Of these, homicide accounted for 65 percent of firearms deaths, suicide
accounted for 30 percent, and 4 percent were considered to be unintentional. The
total death count caused by firearms is over 48,000 for the year 2003.
I'm pretty sure that not many of these kids were licenced or registered gun
owners.
fossil_digger Report This Comment Date: December 18, 2007 05:05AM
and how many deaths were averted because a registered gun owner was quick on
the draw?
i can vouch for 2 personally
