My Old VCR used to have basic controls and then there was a flip open panel that revealed the more in-depth controls.
It makes sense though, as most remotes must have around 30 buttons on now and you really only need <10 on a daily basis.

Looks like a sure fire winner O man smiling bouncing smiley

I think PJs pic very accurately describes how many non techie folks think of such common gadgets and their potential.

One of the chics at work said she and her hubby bought a cell and had no clue how to use it, and since it never rang, 2 days later they returned it. They also have no cell/cable/computer or internet. From what I can gather their most hi-tech appliance is an answering machine grinning smiley

I had the same clunky old cell phone with exposed but lockable keypad and small pull out antenna for about ten years. It was pretty rugged, worked well, and I liked it. Then a few weeks ago Sprint informed me that after their upcoming system change it would no longer work so I got my first flip phone and, other than it being small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, I hate the little piece of shit with it wimpy little ring volume that can't be adjusted loud enough to be heard over the lawmower and the couple of buttons on the sides right where my big fingers naturally go to hold the thing. I want my manly phone back.
