I just did a search on Axios and there were no results for this.

There is an actual PATH act which has to do with tax breaks for teachers.

If you search for "protecting allied travel here" on Google you find about 12 results.

ALL of them cite Twitter and the Axios thing.

There is a tax thing with the same PATH name from 2015. I can't find anything that isn't referring to the Twitter post.

1. Axios search function is crap. So much for going to the horse's mouth.

2. The taxation PATH act still exists

3. This new PATH act is not a direct stoppage of allowing those passports, there is no mechanism for that nor is it legal. It seeks to withhold U.S. government money from the Maldives as an incentive for the Maldives to reinstate the passport program; this information right in the Axios article. Essentially something like boycotting a shop if you don't like something the proprietor is doing. All governments do this all the time. Once again people are reading the headline and jumping to conclusions.

4. While I think this proposal from a couple congressmen is a silly waste of time and may not go anywhere, anonymous can yank my crank.
