My lower back has been borked for decades and my knees since I was a teenager, so anytime something falls to the floor I have an inner debate about whether it's worth risking days of pain to bend down and pick up whatever it is laying there in plain sight. My grandchildren are helpful with this but they live 1100km away so that's inconvenient.
