Most encounters here happen in developed neighborhoods that have retention
ponds to catch runoff from rains. Gators love these ponds, stupid people feed
them, so the gators don't just lose their fear of people because they become
used to seeing them, they learn to associate food with people. Then come the
people who walk their dogs right at the water's edge or just hang around there
themselves, all crocodilians' natural hunting area. When I'm kayaking I hate
being anywhere that people frequent on shore because who knows who's been
feeding the gators, but swimming in any fresh water is an absolute no no, that's
their home.

No argument about that here and the crocs there are more aggressive than gators
and crocs here.

They are ambush predators, they cant help it. Taking prey off land is
spectacular to watch but very rare (there are literally billions of fish for
these monsters to eat). But if you walk past their hiding spot, they will snap
at you.
'gators freak me out how they will sit in a water hole until it is bone dry and
they just look like the dried mud,
