At least the beach and ocean are visible from the roadway. Here in Florida most of the high rises and other building are between the roadway and the ocean blocking the view. There are a few places where driving on the beach is permitted for a few miles but not many.

Yeah. The main highway is glowing red on the left hand side of the image. The road on the right is more a tourist/local road.

We have the Surf Coast Highway in Victoria, follows the rugged coastline for hundreds of km. It's a nice drive to mostly nowhere. Or all the way to Adelaide.

I did the "Around the Bay" ride last year. Coastline is visible from the road most of the 220km loop.



Much of Australia's coastline is visible from roads, at least where there is a road nearby.

Most of Florida's population lives near the coast and it's quite overbuilt. The small city that I live just outside of is about 40 km inland and one of the last places that hasn't gone crazy with high rise buildings. It's on a large harbor with easy access to the Gulf of Mexico but because the harbor is shallow it didn't become a major port the way Tampa Bay did and nearly all of its shoreline is protected from development as a mangrove estuary. There's good fishing here for people into that and in the city's early days it attracted some celebrities of the time for that reason.
