I hear ya q-man but I am not getting that vibe down under.
US news (ish) outlets like Fox and other youboobers are latched onto the buzz-word Socialism not Communism.
They clearly don't understand the difference but I suspect they had their buttons pushed by the Mayor of New York and the branch of the Democrats that refer to themselves as democratic socialists.
These people and parties are elected by the voters so what the fuck can you complain about?

All of this is just noise but when they say "socialism" 20 times in a 4 minute news story and tell us the socialism is the opposite of capitalism it's easy to tune out.
Communism, communist countries & communist parties are clearly compromising human rights.
Socialism & various socialist governments are experimental and often improve human rights however they are 100% committed to capitalism and global capitalism.

You need to find a hard copy dictionary printed prior to 1988 to get the real definition of words these day. Don't rely on this interweb thingy.

Between the world wars there was a sizable communist party in the U.S. as well as the American Bund that supported Hitler and the Nazi party. During WWII the Bund mostly disappeared though there have always been Nazis around, but the big fear then was communists in government and entertainment, and it was totally overblown. There were Senate hearings and people were blacklisted for having had the slightest contact with communists before the war or simply refusing to name people they knew who had been communists. Front and center of this communist witch hunt in the early 1950's was Senator Joseph McCarthy, not the sharpest tack in the box but a bombastic bulldog. McCarthy's right hand man and arguably the brains of the committee was a young lawyer named Roy Cohn. People eventually realized that the government and, by extension, private industry were persecuting innocent people and the hearings stopped. Fast forward to 1970's New York and that young lawyer Cohn is now middle aged lawyer Cohn representing and becoming mentor to young Donald Trump (as well as some mobsters) from whom Trump learned his style of pushing the same lies over and over until people believed them and personally insulting those who oppose him. In his book "Art of the Deal" Trump said, "all the hundreds of 'respectable' guys who made careers out of boasting about their uncompromising integrity but have absolutely no loyalty …. What I liked most about Roy Cohn was that he would do just the opposite." Loyalty over integrity, welcome to the Trump White House. One of Cohn's tactics was to attack homosexuals though he was a closeted one himself. He never married, was disbarred in 1986, and died shortly after of AIDS at 59. If you can find it, the Jim Carry dramatic fictional movie "The Majestic" deals well with this subject.

Australia's communist party was a bit lame but we had great fascist collective and one fucking legend in particular.
He cut the ribbon on the grand opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
