Not the best shot of one of these I've ever gotten but the best shot showing
the hair standing up on one's back. About a mile from where I got the pictures
of the deer I posted earlier.

Not as big as you think, about 3 feet (1m) long and around 80lbs (36kg). I've
seen some twice this long and near 200lbs (90kg).

I saw a dead one near a house I used to live in that was over 5 feet long and
laying on it's side was about 4 feet high, almost bigger than my Honda foreman
4wheeler.

Never been chased, usually they run away when they realize there's someone
there, but last December I had about a 130lb (59kg) sow make a run at me and
break off to the right as I broke to the left. I figure she must've had some new
piglets nearby that weren't able to move yet. She ran on for about 15 or 20
meters then just stopped and watched me move away - very unusual behavior in my
experience.

Mostly they're very shy around here but I always stay alert for escape routes.
They're like many shy people, if you mess with them too much they're liable to
get pissed off and really fuck you up.
