This is the point:
"He was born into an America recovering from the Great Depression and about
to face World War 2, times of loss and sacrifice difficult for most of us to
imagine. Americans would be asked to ration essential supplies and send their
children around the world to fight and die in wars of unfathomable destruction.
He died in a world where many of his fellow Americans refuse to wear a piece of
cloth on their face to protect one another."
Our parents and grandparents lived in difficult times when they were asked to
make real sacrifices for the greater good, my own father was a boy during WWI
and the Spanish flu then raised a family during the depression and WWII (I still
have one of his ration books) while my mother grew up during the depression and
WWII. You people whining about how temporary mask mandates violate your rights
aren't shit compared to those people, you're nothing more than whiny little
bitches sullying the memories of those who made real sacrifices for their
country and their world. You're an embarrassment.
jgoins Report This Comment Date: December 12, 2020 12:47PM
During WWII all the sacrifices made by civilians were not voluntary but they
had to live with it and they didn't live with it quietly. During the swine flu
masks were not worn around the nation by everyone nor were they mandated.
During my 69 years there were many virus outbreaks and we were never required to
wear masks. This virus is no worse than anything in the past and now we are
being required to wear masks as a "temporary" measure. We now have a
vaccine and it is being advised to continue wearing a mask and social distancing
after getting vaccinated. How long is temporary?
quasi Report This Comment Date: December 12, 2020 02:33PM
jgoins, approaching 300,000 dead Americans and millions dead around the world
with many hospitals and health care workers overwhelmed in many areas but it's
no worse than other viruses, huh? Wake up, wearing a mask is a small price to
pay if it saves even one life and it's having the added benefit of lowering the
incidence of the flu this year that in it's worst years kills under 40,000. And
it seems more than temporary because of the folks who won't follow the
guidelines which keeps dragging it out and making it worse than it would be if
everyone did the right thing instead of being whiners and malcontents. And
wartime rationing was not a choice, it was mandatory, strict guidelines for many
commodities. Your fake news propaganda following ways are showing.

"During the 2019-2020 influenza season, CDC estimates that influenza was
associated with 38 million illnesses, 18 million medical visits, 405,000
hospitalizations, and 22,000 deaths. The influenza burden was higher in young
children (0-4 years) and adults (18-49 years) compared with a recent season with
the 2017-2018 season, a recent season with high severity, and provides evidence
to support how severe seasonal influenza can be at any age."

(fuckin full moon?)
short story....
lady was trippin' in the store about people not wearing masks etc. i come around
the corner with no mask, and she flips.
starts going off about Schlump and how he's trying to be a dictator and not
leave office, something about religion and abortion, abusing women, Hitler
inspired racism.........
all the while i'm standing there with a Libertarian T-shirt on.
when i asked her how masks ever became a religious or political issue, she
really flipped...all i could do was shake my head and walk off.
people believing ANYTHING a government, religious political or corporate
organization publishes is frightening.

I'd try to make a point about how Australia and New Zealand haven't had COVID
deaths in months; how...
Melbourne underwent one of the strictest lockdowns in the world and masks were
made mandatory
At the time those rules came down,
my city had the same daily cases as the
UK and now Melbourne hasn't had a new locally transmitted case in 2 months
(we've just started allowing international travellers into hotel quarantine
again; there's been cases there this week).
The UK has put on a million cases since July and has lost 20,000 more people due
to inaction; compared to 20,000 cases and eradication here with mask and
lockdown laws.
... but I won't bother, there's just no point.
The thing is, yes we had a massive lockdown. Yes, masks were mandatory. Yes,
"it infringes on our rights" and all that shit. Yes, a few pissant
bitches complained (though mostly ones who were actually impacted by
restrictions so you can understand it, not just whinging about their rights).
However, now all those lockdowns are gone. Masks aren't mandatory. Pubs are
open, restaurants are open, bars are open, nightclubs are open, we've got 30,000
people a day at our sporting events. And zero cases.
But apparently these things don't work, it's all about control.

Thank you, pulse, although the usual suspects will greet your message with the
standard "fake news" retort. But we're the ones undergoing mind
control.....right. As the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you
can't make it drink, and in the U.S. there are an awful lot of people who
resemble the south end of a northbound horse, they'll back up to the water and
crap in it because they've been told the water is good for them but they figure
that's part of a conspiracy to control their minds.

Now the vaccine is coming out and they are saying even if you get the vaccine
you will still have to wear masks and social distance so what good does the
vaccine do if nothing will change? If this is not about control then taking the
vaccine should allow us to stop wearing masks and open our businesses?
pulse Report This Comment Date: December 14, 2020 02:15PM
Because until the vaccine is proven properly effective and until everyone has
been vaccinated, you guys really desperately need to slow the spread of this
shit.
The vaccine isn't an instant switch. You can still be a carrier even when
vaccinated and infect others, the idea is to protect you. It's going to take
time to vaccinate 300+ million people.

@fossil - 'can anyone tell me what is in the "vaccine"?' - on this
site, probably not, but yes, scientists and medical researchers and those that
have studied these things can tell you. I'm not sure you'd be able to understand
though (that's not a slight on you, just that it is likely to be highly
technical to anybody who isn't familiar with the terms and concepts
involved).
'can you tell me what is in the flu shots?' Not personally, but I can't tell you
what's in my cell phone either. I've got a vague idea how both work, and am

Obituary of Marvin J. Farr
Dr. Marvin James Farr, 81, of Scott City, Kan., passed away Dec. 1, 2020, in
isolation at Park Lane Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by more than
260,000 Americans infected with covid-19. He died in a room not his own, being
cared for by people dressed in confusing and frightening ways. He died with
covid-19, and his final days were harder, scarier and lonelier than necessary.
He was not surrounded by friends and family.
Marvin was born May 23, 1939 to Jim and Dorothy Farr of Modoc, Kan. He was born
into an America recovering from the Great Depression and about to face World War
2, times of loss and sacrifice difficult for most of us to imagine. Americans
would be asked to ration essential supplies and send their children around the
world to fight and die in wars of unfathomable destruction. He died in a world
where many of his fellow Americans refuse to wear a piece of cloth on their face
to protect one another.
Marvin was a farmer and a veterinarian. He graduated from Kansas State
University in 1968. His careers filled his life with an understanding of the
science of life: how to nurture it, how to sustain it, and the myriad ways that
life can go wrong. As a young man he debated between studying mortuary or
veterinary science. He chose life over death. The science that guided his
professional life has been disparaged and abandoned by so many of the same
people who depended on his knowledge to care for their animals and to raise
their food.
Marvin was a religious man. He was a lay reader at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
He saw no conflict between the science of his professional life and the belief
of his personal life, each enriched the other. From religion, he especially drew
on lessons of forgiveness and care. Perhaps the most important comes from the
Lord's Prayer:
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
He would look after those who had harmed him the deepest, a sentiment echoed by
the healthcare workers struggling to do their jobs as their own communities turn
against them or make their jobs harder. He would also fail those who needed him
the most at times, as he was still human, with his flaws and limits.
Marvin was a man of the community. His membership in the Anthem Masonic Lodge
#284 and the Scott County Shrine Club mattered to him for both the camaraderie
of his brothers and for the good works that they facilitated, the most visible
of which is the Shriners Hospitals for Children network. Even in a social
organization, he chose one that centered the health and medical care of
others.
Marvin was a family man, both of blood and chosen family. He was preceded in
death by his wife Lottie Farr; son Justin Farr; brothers Everett Farr and Howard
Farr; and parents. He is survived by his children Courtney Farr and Tamra
Wilkens of Eudora, Kan.; Tesa Fansler of Sanford, Fla.; and Scott and Tracy
Burling of Scott, La.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other
family and loved ones.
Memorial donations may be made to the Scott County Hospital Foundation in care
of Price & Sons Funeral Homes or [

A memorial will be held at a later date due to covid-19.

take it before me to assure me it is safe and effective even then I will not be

even talking about forcing it's citizens to take the vaccine. Even if some
people are told (and I'm not sure this is even happening) 'you cannot do this
job without being vaccinated', that's not force, that's just a decision you'd
have to make if faced with that situation.

Why do we need a vaccine for something that is over 99% survivable? If the
vaccine supporters don't get the numbers they want to take the vaccine
voluntarily they will make it mandatory..
quasi Report This Comment Date: December 19, 2020 04:32PM
jgoins, because in the U.S. about two people are dying every minute. In the
last 9 months the U.S. has had more coronavirus deaths than it had combat
casualties in WWII. In some areas hospitals are overwhelmed and healthcare
workers are wearing out. Many survivors have lasting and apparently long term
effects - a classmate of my 32 year old son had a stroke from the blood clotting
effect of the virus and will be disabled the rest of his life and he isn't
alone. If we want to get past the mask wearing, social distancing, businesses
suffering stage anytime soon (and it won't be immediate) people need to get the
vaccine.
GAK67 Report This Comment Date: December 19, 2020 06:40PM
'Why do we need a vaccine for something that is over 99% survivable?' Actually
it is less than 98% survivable, based on worldwide statistics
'If the vaccine supporters don't get the numbers they want to take the vaccine
voluntarily they will make it mandatory..' More scare/fear-mongering. You state
it as a fact - what do you base this fact on? I don't know what the legalities
would be in the US, but in NZ to make it mandatory it would need a law passed,
and a law like that would not get passed.
quasi Report This Comment Date: December 19, 2020 09:42PM
GAK67, the people who will force him to take the vaccine are the same ones who
took his guns away during the Obama administration, in other words they don't
exist, though it may become a job requirement instituted by some employers,
particularly in health care. As I said before, it's not the people taking
prudent steps against the virus who are afraid, it's those like jgoins who are
afraid of the boogieman.
